Ridwan bin Ibrahim

Ridwan bin Ibrahim, currently judicial commissioner of Ipoh high court, participated in the aftermath of coup of Perak state by Najib Tun Razak. He first created the stir when on Mar 3, 2009, he infamously ruled that five lawyers appointed by Perak State Speaker V. Sivakumar had no locus standi to represent Sivakumar. The astonishing ruling forced Sivakumar to be unrepresented effectively, as his ruling also stated that Sivakumar can only be represented by the state legal advisor, who has been shown to be colluding with the illegal menteri besar Zambry.

Despite the fact that he was too junior a judge to hear a constitutional case, despite the fact that his appointment as judicial commissioner had lapsed when the case was filed, he took on the case, made a mockery of the legal process and even dismissed, among Sivakumar’s legal team, the most senior lawyer and constitutional expert Tommy Thomas.
